The aim is to provide high-quality learning opportunities through a flexible qualification at Level 6 that prepares for progression to higher level study, or within a middle manager role. The objective is to develop theoretical concepts relating to business management studies which can be examined externally and which focus on the breadth and depth of managing modern business environments, in both generic and specific areas.
This Level 6 qualification aims to give practising or potential senior managers formal development in this role. The qualification does this by developing senior management understanding and assisting participants in gaining the knowledge required at this level. Students do not have to be currently employed to study this qualification, but may be engaged in voluntary activity or planning for work. Entry requirements will be a relevant Level 5 or equivalent qualification, plus a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme – which is likely to be at least Level 3 Key Skills Literacy and Numeracy or their equivalent in the UK, and previous knowledge and/or experience within a business management environment, perhaps as a first line manager.
Students who wish to apply for the course must need to produce Secure English Language Test (SELT) certificate from a UK Boarder Agency approved provider, showing that they have achieved level B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in each of the components: Speaking; listening; reading; and writing. Students will automatically meet the language requirements if they have successfully completed a qualification, equivalent to a UK bachelor's or above, which was taught in English in the UK or a majority English-speaking country or a nation of the English-speaking country.
Written examination four times a year
Progression is to other equivalent accredited qualifications at Level 6 or 7, or to Higher Education studies. Alternatively students may add optional units to meet their employers' needs, or develop specialised learning in particular areas, eg, Marketing.
