Course Description

The BSc (Honours) Management and Business Administration has been designed to help you develop your career as a business manager and to prepare you for increased responsibility in your workplace.

The programme modules require you to develop your existing knowledge and skills by:

  • Examining your personal effectiveness as an business manager
  • Considering how you can contribute to improved performance management in your workplace
  • Taking a more strategic perspective on your own and your organisation's objectives

As the programme progresses, you should be developing your research and study skills. This will be important when you come to start work on your research project. With support from a research project supervisor, you will be expected to develop a research methodology appropriate for your chosen subject area and to submit a thorough investigation of a topic related to the work of a business manager.

Objectives

MDP has worked closely with the Manchester Metropolitan University in the development of the programme. The overall programme aim is:

To develop knowledge and understanding to analyse, evaluate and take responsibility for administration systems and processes that make an effective contribution to business performance Once you have been accepted on to the programme, MDP will provide you with the study materials and support you need to complete the programme.

Entry Requirements

Entrance to Level Three of the BSc (Honours) Management and Business Administration is restricted to those who hold the following qualifications:

  • IAM Advanced Diploma*
  • ABE
  • HND in Business
  • Or equivalent

*An additional 20 credit module must be completed by students with qualifications from the Institute of Administrative Management.

English Language Requirement

Students who wish to apply for the course must need to produce Secure English Language Test (SELT) certificate from a UK Boarder Agency approved provider, showing that they have achieved level B1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in each of the components: Speaking; listening; reading; and writing. Students will automatically meet the language requirements if they are a nation of the English-speaking country.

Assessment Regulation

Students normally take a minimum of nine months to complete the award. Under normal circumstances students are expected to complete the programme within twelve months of initial registration. Each of the four modules is assessed by an assignment (30% weighting) and an examination (70% weighting). The research project is a major piece of independent work in which you should demonstrate you have researched an approved topic in depth. The final submission should be 13,000 (maximum) words in length.

Award and Certification

The process of development should enable you to look at your job role and career development from new perspectives and provide you with ideas and insights that will help you to contribute more effectively to your organisation's performance. On the completion of the 120 credits the learner will be awarded with the degree in BSc (Honours) Management and Business Administration by Manchester Metropolitan University.
